Shipping Instructions for Accepted Cores

We work with sellers nationwide, but every shipment starts with a written quote. Please read this whole page before you ship anything.

1. Get and accept a quote first

Don't ship until you have accepted our written quote and received shipping instructions from us that mention your quote reference (it looks like TAC-Q-261021-7KQ2). We can't accept unannounced shipments and aren't responsible for them.

2. Confirm shipping responsibility in writing

Your quote says who arranges and pays for freight. Depending on the quote, that may be you, us, a split, a drop-off, or a pickup. Freight arrangements are confirmed by email before shipment. We don't offer free shipping, prepaid labels or pickup unless your written quote says so.

3. Get any required shipping authorization

If we're arranging freight, we'll send the bill of lading or booking details. If you're arranging it, send us the carrier name, the PRO or tracking number, and the expected delivery date before pickup.

4. Pack it right

Engines and transmissions: palletized freight

  • Drain all fluids (oil, transmission fluid, coolant). Engines must have the fuel completely drained and the fuel lines capped. An engine that contains fuel is regulated hazardous cargo under federal rules (49 CFR 173.220).
  • Plug or cap every opening, and secure the torque converter on automatic transmissions.
  • Remove batteries and loose parts. Bag and label small loose parts.
  • Set the unit upright on a sound pallet or skid, with nothing hanging over the edge. Bolt or strap it down. Stretch wrap alone isn't a restraint.
  • Use absorbent pads under units that may weep. Carriers may refuse leaking freight.
  • Mark the weight, "Do Not Stack," and your quote reference on two sides.

Alternators, starters, AC compressors, steering racks, turbos

  • Small quantities may ship by parcel if each package is within the carrier's limits. UPS, for example, accepts packages up to 150 lb, 108 inches in length, and 165 inches in length plus girth combined. Heavier shipments go as freight.
  • Use strong boxes, cap fluid ports, and bag parts that may leak residual oil.
  • Larger loads should be palletized or packed in a pallet box (gaylord) and shrink-wrapped.
  • AC compressors: the refrigerant must be recovered by a certified technician before removal. Never vent refrigerant.

Prohibited in any shipment

  • Fuel, loose fluids or containers of fluids
  • Batteries (unless we specifically agree in writing and they're packed to the carrier's rules)
  • Airbags, pressurized components, or anything the carrier classifies as hazardous unless prepared to its rules
  • Catalytic converters (not currently accepted)

Each carrier has its own rules for residual fluids, hazardous materials and prohibited items. The shipper is responsible for following the carrier's requirements. If you aren't sure, ask us before you ship.

5. Include your quote reference

Put your quote reference on the outside of every package or pallet, and on a packing slip inside.

6. Inspection on arrival

We inspect received parts against the accepted quote: identification, quantity, completeness and condition. We usually photograph what we receive.

7. Discrepancies

If what arrives doesn't match the accepted quote (wrong part, different quantity, missing components, damage or contamination), we'll contact you with photos and options under our Submission & Purchase Terms. That may mean a revised offer, paying only for what matches, or returning the parts at the cost agreed in those terms.

8. Payment

Payment is made after inspection, under the terms in your accepted quote.

Got cores sitting around?

Send photos and part details. If we can buy, you'll get a written offer. You decide whether to accept.
